Abok na katchaba, Grandma’s offering to the sun in the morning. During my darkest times, when I closed my eyes thinking of love, purity, protection and blessing, it was the image of my grandmother’s morning offering which came to my mind many times giving me so much of strength, strength making all the darkness fade way, filling me with love. I felt my feet cold standing on the slightly dried cleaned clay floor as I walked outside after waking up, breathing in the fresh smell of flowers, burning incense sticks, light burning on the cotton hand rolled wick in ghee and Abok’s beautiful smile as she turned back hearing my steps, still kneeling down with her morning offerings. She is gone, long back but the feeling of pure love, protected and blessed feeling stayed with me giving me such positive energy. Do find your moments of positive energy.

Monica Ingudam

Artist: Monica found the process of painting to be very calming and therapeutic to deal with the moods and waves of life. Art and painting provided the calm inner strength during the intense grieving period during her father’s passing. She volunteered for Art Galleries to be closer to Art, took art classes to enhance her understanding and skills of being an artist. Currently she is working on a series of oil paintings promoting the beauty of the universe, in the belief that these paintings will connect people at a deeper level bringing out the hidden love and compassion, giving the strength to rise above. She has pledged the funds raised from her paintings to projects of FindingTheVoices and support humane initiatives she has encountered as part of interviews covered in her talk show. Her paintings raised funds for Palliative Care. Currently she is raising funds for 1001Thagatchari, gratitude project of Manipur.
