Shirui Lily Of Manipur
Oil Painting by Monica Ingudam
Canvas 10 by 10 inches , painted 2021
Inspiration: This painting is inspired by the Shirui Lily blooming in my birthplace Manipur. It is a rare species blooming between mid May to mid June, found only in the upper reaches of the Shirui hill ranges in the Ukhrul district of Manipur, India. Many from far and near trek to this sacred mountain, the Shirui Kashong Peak to get a glimpse of this beauty; some secretly whisper their wish with the belief that the wish gets fulfilled when shared with this flower.
