2019 – Education for children of Kaggui Hope

Children of Kaggui Hope, Kangpokpi, Manipur

I am painting for education of children. Every child deserves to be in the school. There are many kids who are not attending schools because they don’t have access to schools or cannot effort the fees or parents choose to keep them at home to help with household work or farming. Would you participate in getting books, paying fees, getting uniform for a child to help them get the education they deserve?

I have pledged my art to projects and human causes we come across as part of coverage of FindingTheVoices . Last year we successfully raised funds for Palliative Care with three of my original paintings and greeting cards. This year the fundraising goes to children of Kanggui Hope, Kangpokpi, Manipur an initiative led by Lien Gangte. Kaggui Hope enable underpriviledged children of Kangpokpi to gain education, provide financial assistance towards admission fees, monthly school tuition fees, school uniform, text books, note books, pen, pencils etc.

My father had to drop out couple of his early school years as a child due to financial constraints. He took to full time farming during those years and was heartbroken to be out of school. He shared about the hardship she endured just to get education. He believed in education so much so, even as a child he studied under a lamp post at night, walked miles barefoot from Oinam to Nambol after his early morning chores of farming wiping his muddy feet with hay. That was years ago but we still have many many children who are in situations where they are not able to go to school.

It’s the spirit of kindness, the art of giving that keeps the universe beautiful. We have received and experienced kindness and generosity from people who doesn’t know us. Think about such times — once I had no spare shoes and felt the water seeping through as I walked the muddy road. I received INR 300 from a kind person to get new shoes. Once I was surprised with gift of a blue jeans in a faraway hostel during holiday season where I didn’t have the luxury of having visitors from home. My name was on the list for late mess fees and they wouldn’t give an extension for late payment — the kind person never said “No” whenever I ran to borrow money. Kindness has touched me at times I need the most and it’s my hope to reflect and spread on practicing kindness and art of giving through the fundraising effort. This season I paint the beautiful rare Shirui lily and art products to support Kanggui Hope children for their education. Education can take a child places, give freedom and empowerment — it has for me. Please find it in your heart to be that someone to cheer a little one to get uniforms, books, pay school fees by participating in my fundraising effort. Make your generous offer for my original paintings or print products this season to help in raising funds for the children of Kanggui Hope and give them the gift of education. Painting of Shirui lily, rare species of plant found only in the upper reaches of the Shirui hill ranges in the Ukhrul district of Manipur, India.

My deepest gratitude to each and everyone of you for supporting our fundraising initiative. Your contribution is going to help in the education of a child, in paying fees, getting school supplies (Books, pens, bagpack), uniforms for children of Kaggui Hope, Manipur. Your contribution is going help in making a child and family feel that they are not alone. Your participation fills the universe with the art of giving, paying it forward bringing out kindness and generosity – the much needed art in building our community of humanity . Your contribution and support means a lot. We have successfully reached the goal of raising USD 1001. Thagatchari, Thank you.
