I have been listening to my mother reading stories from childhood days – huddling on the bed fighting with my siblings for the blankets on the bed as Ema read on dim light from the kerosene lantern. My love for books remained.
Ema started reading again from 2017 till 2025 leading to a new podcasting live show and birthing of Library of Manipur – introducing us to beautiful literature and authors of Manipur. It was a very healing phase after my father’s passing.
With time, Ema reduced the time of reading or needed more breaks. She was getting tired but I wasn’t ready to accept her ageing.
But sometime in 2025 in one of the show she stopped her reading abruptly even before 30 minutes. That was the day I accepted and acknowledged her getting older. I had already started reading spiritual books and then the idea of reading with Ema came.
From 28th Jan 2026 early mornings before work, we started reading and discussing spiritual scriptures. While I read – Ema shares about her memories and stories. And yet again another surprising healing journey together as we reflect , let go, learn as we read from the scriptures.
