Painting: The guard

November 29, 2021 by Monica Ingudam

This is a painting inspired by a beautiful statue at Govinda temple in my birthplace at Imphal, Manipur, India. As a child I was very fascinated by this beautiful statue guarding the entrance of the main temple. It has always brought out the inner child in me and a big happy smile to many.

Painting: DC temple

October 10, 2021 by Monica Ingudam

Inspiration: A beautiful view of the temple (Washington DC temple) from my car driving at 495 freeway. Everytime I see the temple I know home is near, bringing me a great feeling after a long drive.

Painting: Lady Yumi

September 2, 2021 by Monica Ingudam

Inspired by Maryland First Lady Yumi Hogan. I thought about how diversity can bring humans together. She was critical in getting 500K test kits from South Korea during the early days of COVID for the people of Maryland.

Painting: Inner Voice

May 2, 2021 by Monica Ingudam

Inspired by the blue color (color of throat chakra) of this beautiful flow Aprajita, a flower I grew up watching in my mother’s garden. When the throat chakra is in balance, we speak, listen, and express ourselves openly and authentically. When out of balance, we ignore our inner voice, feel afraid of expressing ourselves.

“Emerging” selected for Rockville Art League Art League Juried Members’ Winter Show 2020/21

December 6, 2020 by Monica Ingudam

Rockville Art League Art League Juried Members’ Winter Show 2020/21 … I selected art which was evocative on multiple levels. I sought out artistic expressions where the use of the medium was proficient while the artist also pushed the boundaries of expectation.
