Painting: Shirui Lily Of Manipur

January 1, 2022 by Monica Ingudam

his painting is inspired by the Shirui Lily blooming in my birthplace Manipur. It is a rare species blooming between mid May to mid June, found only in the upper reaches of the Shirui hill ranges in the Ukhrul district of Manipur, India. Many from far and near trek to this sacred mountain, the Shirui Kashong Peak to get a glimpse of this beauty; some secretly whisper their wish with the belief that the wish gets fulfilled when shared with this flower.

Painting: Sunset

September 2, 2021 by Monica Ingudam

A beautiful view of the temple from my car driving at 495 freeway. Everytime I see the temple I know home is near, bringing me a great feeling after a long drive.

Painting: Now

October 5, 2020 by Monica Ingudam

Now

My mind was filled with the hurtful words said earlier,
Bringing tears to my eyes.

I looked around,
I see the beautiful sunset,
I see the beautiful cherry blossom,
I see the beautiful Potomac river where John Quincy Adams, the 6th president of USA swam nude,
I see the tall Washington monument in DC.

Most importantly I see love around me,
Gratitude filled my heart,
Bringing me back to Now,
Bringing back my smile.

The power of Now is there for you too 💗

Painting: Katchaba

April 28, 2019 by Monica Ingudam

During my darkest times, when I closed my eyes thinking of love, purity, protection and blessing, it was the image of my grandmother’s morning offering which came to my mind many times giving me so much of strength, strength making all the darkness fade way, filling me with love.

Dzukou lily of Manipur Oil Painting by Monica IngudamCanvas paper20 by 10 inch2018Original – SOLD, found a home at Australia, proceeds to Palliative Care Society, Imphal, Manipur. For the longest time, I have been working on the fundraising idea for Palliative Care but it hasn’t panned out the way I had planned. Painting: Nanao’s Telangga

November 22, 2015 by Monica Ingudam

Nanao’s Telangga, Nanao’s Kite in meiteilon (Manipuri). I painted remembering my little brother’s love for flying kites in Manipur.  He loved flying kites as a kid. He was one of the best in our leikai (community) and known for his excellent skills for cutting other’s kite. He was very possessive of his kites and it was on very rare occasion that he would let me fly. I enjoyed watching the cutting kites and the excitement, running behind the falling kite […]
